Poetry

Dr. Sarfaraz K. Niazi writes poetry in Urdu and English. Given below are some examples of his works.
The genre of his poetry can be best described as love poems with a taste of ironies.

At the age of 11 he wrote a love poem in Urdu that brought him early recognition on Radio Pakistan at a
Mushaira presided by the famous Zulfiqar Ali Bukhari:

The tumultuous heart does not settle down no matter what
Perhaps there is no resolve to this pain of love.

Self-pride kept from telling the condition of my heart
She did keep asking but we just couldn’t tell.

Why are you asking the condition of Niazi from me;
Once he sat down at her doorsill, he just couldn’t get up.

His divan of poetry consists of over 200 ghazals; these, along with their English translations are coming soon to this site.
