THE ULTIMATE PANACEA

"I firmly believe that if the whole MATERIA MEDICA
could be sunk to the bottom of the sea, it would be
all the better for mankind and all the worse for the fishes".

O. W. Holmes, LECTURE, Harvard Medical School

Fish do not need the Materia Medica (a book describing sources and properties of drugs). They are the Materia Medica. Man has always been searching for a panacea for his ailments. He has just found one in the deep seas. Fish itself has no curative properties, it merely undoes what our diets do to us. Fish fat provides the missing link necessary to maintain the delicate balance of the effects of our diets on our body. It would seem ruthless, if nature hadnot provided, equally abundantly, the antidotes to its own deleterious offerings in the form of delicious fats.

Given the passion Americans have for fatty foods, it is unlikely that any serious dent will be made in the total fat consumption within the next century and consequently damage to our arteries, brain, and the rest of the body will continue. However, supplementing our diets with fish or fish oils offers a prophylaxis against our diets. Finally, for dessert lovers, there is hope.

Far from being an ordinary "fish story," this book has been the extraordinary account of one of the exciting medical discoveries of the century. It was written in the hope that through education, the consumer will grasp the chance to preserve health and increase his lifespan through the use of fish.
